Living in a mega city like Ahmedabad, Gujarat which is an overwhelming place to sustain and earning an unstable income while supporting a family of four is definitely a herculean task. I used to work as a Medical Representative in a huge pharmaceutical company well-known for its diverse variety of products. Every day as the alarm went crazy at 8 am in the morning, I used to kick off my day with a cup of hot coffee in one hand and an elongated drawn out list of doctors in the other. I used to review the list and do some research so that I could have an edge over the other competitors. However, all my hard work went in vain when at the end of the day, I had to preach the doctors so that they prescribe my product. A considerable amount of mine and my team’s time would just drift away in waiting for the doctors in the waiting room and sometimes, they even denied on meeting us since they had some emergency or a tightly packed schedule. Luckily, if they were ready to attend us, we usually coaxed them to prescribe our drugs on a regular basis and had to deal with their regular mockery and jeering. Many times, we were asked for many favors which we had to carry out due to stomping pressure of our unimaginable monthly targets decided by our own pharmaceutical company. So, if I would capsulize my day, I used to start my day with dismay of losing my job and end it with dreadful anxiety thinking about the next day’s target.
Success Story after MBA
I personally believe that “Success is the ability to go from failure to failure without losing your enthusiasm”, and I tried my best to deal with this daily dose of exaggerated stress and acute anxiety but one day, I lost it all. At last, my parents suggested me to leave this job and pursue higher education in management field so that I could groom up my skills. So, I researched for some MBA colleges in Ahmedabad as well as some PGDM colleges in Ahmedabad keeping in mind about the latest job trends in the market. After structuring my research, I finally determined my goal of becoming an HR and enrolled in an MBA college in Ahmedabad.
During my MBA Degree, I had understood the golden words “Try not to become a man of success but a man of value” by Albert Einstein. I enhanced my soft skills and learned to take snap decisions while facing any troublesome problem. After my MBA course got completed, I commenced my new career journey as a Human Resource Manager (HR) in a private sector bank in India. My whole life just took an amazing U-turn. From waiting for long hours in doctor’s lounge and coaxing them to sell the company’s product to now being an HR in a private bank. My Work usually involves shortlisting and interviewing a lot of aspirants who get enlisted for the job interview and try to nurse and solve most of the grievances of our employees. I welcome all our employees with an open heart and if in any case, I am stuck in some urgent task or a crucial meeting, I ensure that the waiting person is prior informed about the waiting time. I feel good management and cohesive teamwork are two essential assets for any industry to make its way to top and being an HR, I strongly believe in dealing with people using the golden trio which is Admiration, Deference, and Honor.
