The director of technical education has issued a directive stating that all students aspiring to seek admission in MBA and MCA colleges approved by AICTE have to undergo national level admission test known as CMAT (Common Management Admission Test) which would be held twice a year.
All students with a graduate degree in any discipline, third year student of graduation is eligible to appear for this test.
The entire test would be divided into 4 sections namely: Quantitative Techniques and Data Interpretation, Logical Reasoning, Language Comprehension and General Awareness. Every section would have 25 questions each with 100 marks. Each correct answer would be of 4 marks and for every wrong answer 1 marks would be deducted. The test duration would be about 180 minutes.
Introduction of CMAT would raise the standards of students getting admission in AICTE approved MBA and MCA colleges all over India. Thus students can directly appear for this test and do not need to appear for local entrance test like GCET (Gujarat Common Entrance Test). From next academic year of 2013 -14 all management institutions would consider the scores of CMAT.
The registration date is from 3rd August 2012 till 2nd September 2012 for CMAT September-October 2013-14. This exam would be held in 64 cities across India. For further details visit the official website of AICTE.
